that police were able to use to track him down. he is suspected of 15 robberies in eight different cities crossing county lines. right now has only been charged in a county. the faces 11 counts of armed robbery dirty years in prison. >> credible hard work. this is the way the case should occur. cooperation between agencies. provides information to the police department. it is transported to the cook county. they started complaining of feeling ill. he was rushed to the hospital. no word on what that element is that he is dealing with. as for the car he is driving police say that belonged to a woman. as for a motive police say he is unemployed so financial reasons or least a reason for him committing these mobrobbers. three people were killed after an s-u-v crashed on the southwest side. it happened around 8-30 last night near 31st and western. police say a man and two women were traveling east on 31st street when their jeep hit a curb at western. the jeep then hit a pole and landed on its roof. firefighters had to cut the victims from the vehicle. all three were pronounced dead a shor

city northward into new england, boston. if your travels take you in that direction, man, i was going to drive up to boston, you may want to revisit those plans. here just rain and wind primarily but, again, some snow showers late friday night on the back side. tonight we're down to 26 degrees, mostly clear, definitely a cold night on the way. it takes awhile to get to the 20s. tomorrow 40 degrees, most of the day in the 30s with clouds on the increase and east wind kicking in down to 34, rain, plus sleet. all this develops late. sleet primarily frederick and hagerstown. on the front edge of that rain maker on friday and wind maker. the main winter weather will be to states to our north. friday that's when weather goes downhill. a new winter showers friday night and maybe early saturday morning. windy conditions both friday and saturday. temperatures will slowly begin to rebound into the day on sunday as we go into the mid-40s. we could be back in the low 50s to start off next week although that may not hold up. looks like a mild per start. there's the setup, kelly. this is a large st

mild autism as well. gabe gutierrez joins us from midland city, alabama. gabe, we know authorities have been talking to dykes through that pvc pipe of some sort. do we know whether he's asking for anything? >> reporter: craig, we've been following this story for days. police are very tightlipped about what their communication with dykes involves. we don't know if he's making any demeans, but yesterday we did hear from the sheriff and saw some signs of how sensitive these negotiations have become. the shefb thariff thavsnked the for taking care of our child. law enforcement authorities may believe that the suspect has access to television in the bunker. he has an electric heater, blankets and treating the child relatively well and the child so far was not physically harmed, but not many details on the nature of the negotiations. this has been going on for more than 118 hours, since tuesday afternoon, when police say that suspect, jimmy lee dykes boarded that school bus, demanded two children and shot and killed the bus driver and took off with 5-year-old ethan according to police. they h

york city, all the way through hartford in connecticut, to boston, massachusetts, up to portland, maine. this entire area is going to get the driving, blinding snow, the kind of snow that shuts down cities. this is kind of a big hit for this area. it really comes together with two storms. one storm that's already delivered a hit of snow. north of the chicagoland area, about ten inches of snow. you didn't have to get too far to get that snow there. and in central detroit. not detroit, but central michigan. they picked up about ten inches of snow. that's got the cold air. as that system drives up to the north, they really do get together and phase right about 2:00, 3:00 in the morning, that system will pull itself together to become one, big snowmaker off the coast of new york and connecticut and massachusetts and boston, to make that big, big storm happen. who gets what? if you're south of the center of this storm you get rain. that's the d.c. area. right along the coastal areas, where you see this flashing red, we have a hurricane-force wind warning out there. the coastal flooding in ar

mother. abc's correspondent reports on the unfolding drama from midland city, alabama. >> reporter: after a week-long standoff a happy day in alabama where the little boy kidnapped from the school bus is safe. a new picture of 5-year-old ethan. >> i have been to the hospital. i have visited with ethan. he is doing fine. >> reporter: the suspect, 65-year-old jimmy lee dykes is dead. abc news has learned authorities were able to insert a high-tech camera into the bunker and monitor dykes' movements. when they be kale increasingly concerned he might act out they positioned the swat team near the entrance and used an explosive charge to get into the bunker and neutralize dykes. the s standoff began last tuesd when the suspect boarded a school bus and threatened the kids. dykes allegedly shot and killed the bus driver and kidnapped ethan. 5-year-old ethan believed to have autism was held captive in the underground bunker, 6 x 8 while police and swat teams above ground carefully negotiated through a ventilation pipe. dykes allowed what authorities called comfort item to be sent down the pipe, t

, the biggest of the winter, on track for the northeast. could it be a lot of snow headed for some major cities? guess who we're going to ask. sa sam. >> models started to show this last night. we've had a split flow in the jet stream. we've had a northern jet and a southern jet. this has been small nuisancemakers and storms. but what begins to happen is those two positions start to phase together. let me get back to the graphic. i want to show you -- max, will you run that through. to the eastern side. here's what happens. these two lows that are right now, really far apart, get really close in sync and phase off the eastern seaboard. where this happens depends who gets snow and who gets rain. it's going to happen from the carolinas towards probably boston. wherever this happens, there's a lot of snow with this storm and southern rain. there will be mixing, as well. as far as exact totals, we're not going to do that tonight into tomorrow. buffalo, albany, 6 to 12-inch snowfalls. new york, 3 to 6 for that area. philly, a little less. 1 to 3. boston, 12 to 24 inches of snow. some places in maine
